Melinda entered the field of monogramming and embroidery in 1980 with B&G Lieberman of Charlotte, NC. In 1985, after taking a couple of years to acquire a degree in Commercial Graphics, Melinda joined Macpherson Monogram in Greensboro, NC. There she was responsible for the team who created and supported "Style Paks" –lettering and design packages for Barudan embroidery machines. Working with Barudan software specialists on R & D for future software products was also an integral part of the work that she enjoyed. Melinda has worked in-depth with the Compucon line of software products. She has worked with several software platforms; cooperated in crucial customer relations; and taught a variety of trade seminars. Recently, consulting, technical writing, digitizing and educational materials have filled Melinda’s time. She is a founding member of "NAMES" - National Association Madeira's Embroidery Specialists. Additionally, Melinda is a founding board and faculty member of Embroidery University. Today, Melinda and her husband, Jacques own and operate Dement Studios, a company that offers many different types of artistic expressions. Offerings include embroidery educational materials, products, and services; as well as graphic design, sculpture, and image processing. Check out our Parent site: Dement Studios Personal statement: "It is an honor to be sharing knowledge with those in this fascinating field of Embroidery. Much of the skills and tips of digitizers and embroiders have been acquired by the "Trial and Error" method due to the pioneering phase of the industry. How many times have I heard in conversation,"Oh, how I wish there had been more teachers and materials as I was trying to learn!" "This era of "Virtual Technology" is an incredible educational tool. My intention is to aid you in learning some of the techniques and formulas of the trade. My belief is that you will gain information that will help you to be productive and profitable in your chosen endeavor. We trust that you will honor the copy written materials." |
